งานประกาศรางวัล Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards ครั้งที่ 28 ถูกจัดขึ้นเมื่อวันที่ 27 กุมภาพันธ์ ใน ซานตาโมนิกา, แคลิฟอร์เนีย นักแสดง อีจองแจ (Lee Jung Jae) และ จองโฮยอน (Jung Ho Yeon) คว้ารางวัล Outstanding Performance ในหมวดนักแสดงชาย และ หญิงจาก Drama Series ทำให้พวกเขากลายเป็นนักแสดงเกาหลีคนแรกที่ได้รับรางวัลในหมวดซีรีส์ พวกเขาเป็นนักแสดงเอเชียคนแรกที่คว้ารางวัลนี้ได้เช่นกัน
อีจองแจกล่าวขณะขึ้นรับรางวัลว่า “โอ้ ขอบคุณมากๆครับ นี่มันยิ่งใหญ่จริงๆ ผมเขียนบางอย่างด้วยแต่ไม่คิดว่าจะอ่านมันได้ ขอบคุณ SAG Awards มากเลยครับ ขอบคุณผู้ชมจากทั่วโลกสำหรับความรักทั้งหมดที่มีให้ Squid Game และขอบคุณทีม Squid Game ด้วย!”
จองโฮยอนกล่าวว่า “ก่อนอื่น ขอบคุณมากเลยค่ะ ฉันได้เห็นนักแสดงมากมายผ่านทางหน้าจอโทรทัศน์ ฝันว่าอยากเป็นนักแสดงบ้างในซักวันหนึ่งระหว่างที่ได้ดูพวกเขา ขอบคุณที่ทำให้ฝันของฉันเป็นจริงและเปิดประตูให้กับฉัน ฉันรักพวกคุณมากๆเลยนะคะทีมงานของ Squid Game”
นอกจากนี้ Squid Game ยังได้รับรางวัล Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble ในหมวดรายการโทรทัศน์ เอาชนะคู่แข่งอย่าง Cobra Kai, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki และ Mare of Easttown ทำให้สามารถคว้ารางวัลได้ 3 รางวัล จากการถูกเสนอชื่อทั้งหมด 4 รางวัล

— SAG Awards® (@SAGawards) February 27, 2022ก่อนหน้านี้เมื่อ 12 มกราคม Squid Game ได้รับการเสนอชื่อให้เข้าชิง 4 รางวัลในงาน SAG Awards ครั้งที่ 28 ถือเป็นรายการโทรทัศน์แรกที่ไม่ใช่ภาษาอังกฤษที่ได้เข้าชิงรางวัล โดยมีรายชื่อเสนอเข้าชิงรางวัล Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble ส่วนอีจองแจ และ จองโฮยอน ได้รับการเสนอชื่อในฐานะนักแสดง
อีจองแจ เอาชนะผู้ถูกเสนอชื่อคนอื่นได้แก่ Brian Cox (“Succession”), Billy Crudup (“The Morning Show”), Kieran Culkin (“Succession”) และ Jeremy Strong (“Succession”) ส่วน จองโฮยอน เอาชนะ Jennifer Aniston (“The Morning Show”), Elisabeth Moss (“The Handmaid’s Tale”), Sarah Snook (“Succession”) และ Reese Witherspoon (“The Morning Show”)
